- Stay Hydrated!
It may seem like a simple thing to say but many people forget to ensure that they are keeping themself hydrated through the day – especially in hot weather! Drink plenty of fluids, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Water is best, but you can also drink sports drinks or other fluids that contain electrolytes. Try to avoid alcohol and caffeine, as these can dehydrate you!
- Wear loose-fitting and light-coloured clothing!
During hot weather, wearing loose-fitting and light-coloured clothing can help keep your body cool. Avoid wearing synthetic fabrics, as they can trap heat! If your clothing exposes skin to the sunlight, make sure to apply sun cream before going outside!
- Stay in the shade as much as possible!
During hot weather, staying in shaded areas will help to keep you cool. If you are unable to find a shaded spot, wearing a hat or sunglasses can help to protect you from the sun!
- Keep care of your children and pets!
During hot weather, do not leave your children or pets in a car as even on a mild day, the temperature inside a car can rise to dangerous levels in minutes. This rise in temperature can cause heat stroke, dehydration or even death so it isextremely important to never do this!
- Take a break from the heat!
During hot weather, it is important to make sure that you take breaks in a cooler area or by having a cold shower or bath! This can help to make sure you don’t over heat during hot weather.
